A Fond Farewell
After nineteen years of service to Christ the King parish, (thirteen as Director of Religious Education), Anne Boshinski is stepping down. Anne has built a powerful program of Religious Education for our young people, serving close to 800 children with her 100 plus volunteer catechists. She has served with warmth, generosity and boundless energy. In addition, Anne has lent her vast musical talents to Sunday Masses, school Masses, talent shows and theatre productions. Anne has touched all parts of our parish life and her presence will be greatly missed. We wish her much happiness and great joy as she moves to a new phase in her life but know we will still see her and her family as loyal parishioners. Anne thanks all parishioners for the “honor and privilege” of serving here at Christ the King.
...and A Warm Welcome
to Kate Oats who becomes our new Director of Religious Education on August 1. Kate has served as Religious Education Director in several parishes over the last seventeen years and has even helped out at Christ the King a year ago. Kate comes from a huge Irish family, has been married for 37 years and has four grown children. Kate “asks for your prayers as we begin working together to continue the vibrant tradition of lifelong learning at Christ the King”. She also asks your patience while she gets all the names straight.

Welcome Father Jorge Arevalo Alzate and
Father Neil Dhabliwala
We are pleased to welcome Father Jorge Arevalo Alzate who comes to us from San Felipe de Jesus Mission in Forest Park. Father Arevalo hails from Columbia and will work with our Hispanic Ministry at Christ the King. He will be celebrating some of our daily Masses. Father Arevalo has been a priest for 14 years, 12 in Colombia and two in the Archdiocese of Atlanta.
Father Neil Dhabliwala was just ordained to the priesthood on May 31. He is a familiar face to us as he spent last summer serving as a
Deacon at the Cathedral before his final year of seminary. Father Dhabliwala (pronounced Dab-lee-walla) was brought up in Atlanta, attending Our Lady of the Assumption School, St. Pius High
School and Georgia Tech.
We welcome both Fathers to Christ the King and look forward to getting to know them better. Please take a moment after Mass to introduce yourself so they can begin to know our wonderful parish family.
Children’s Time, Talent & Treasure Envelopes
We are reminded of God’s generosity by a simple phrase found in the Lord’s Prayer. In asking “Give us this day our
daily bread,” we gratefully recognize that God will provide for our needs.
But just as we receive from the Lord, it is important for us to share God’s gifts through the conscious giving of time, talent and treasure. True Christian stewardship results from our giving with an open hand and heart of our time, talent and treasure.
An important way parents can nurture their children in the ways of faith is to instill in them a sense of true Christian stewardship. The example of the parent is the primary way a child learns to give. Giving is one of those values that is “caught” rather than taught. Teaching and encouraging your children about stewardship can help in their faith development. Christ the King will be mailing envelopes to the young members of our parish (grades Kindergarten through high school). Every other month, children’s
envelopes will be sent to the homes. Children have the opportunity to place a note in the envelope regarding their contribution of time (such as altar serving, helping at home, etc.) and talent (singing in choir, making a card for the elderly), and their gift of treasure (a portion of their allowance or spending money).
The envelope can be placed in the collection basket at weekend Masses. A record at the Cathedral will be kept of their contributions and your child will receive a year-end statement of their stewardship activity.
Giving Together as Stewards
Each year we come together, united in our Catholic faith, to live the
call to stewardship. We generously give from the blessings we have
received. Many of us demonstrate our dedication and sacrifice in
supporting the stewardship appeal through the annual pledge.
Our Cathedral Church
to pray and celebrate the sacraments
We give to provide for the Cathedral Church where we come together to pray and celebrate the sacraments. The Cathedral stands as a guiding light, a symbol
of inspiration and hope.
Our Cathedral Ministries
to share our blessings with those in need
We give to support the Cathedral ministries; encouraging them to continue serving others in need, teaching the word of Jesus Christ and passing on our
ideals of love and service to our youth. We create disciples to help lead people to
the truth, while making them aware of their need for a personal and intimate
relationship with Jesus Christ.
The Wider Catholic Church
to reach out and make a difference
We give to the wider Catholic Church to strengthen the overall Catholic community. We reach out to support those ministries and the good works coordinated by the Archdiocese of Atlanta. These include vocations to the priesthood, Catholic Charities, Catholic Social Services and mission development.
As disciples of Christ,
we give abundantly from our blessings
Please return your pledge card today.
